Whenever I see the word dilemma I could like to find a better Chinese character fir it. It has been over 20 years passed. I remember the Chinese explanation for it was 两难境地, I always don’t like this answer as it is not that Chinese. It is more of a literal explanation rather than a cultural fit match. I tend to think that 骑虎难下is a perfect idiom for this word.
